Dinosaurs Come to Life With iStopMotion

The art room was alive with energy, giggles, and excitement today! It's days like this that I REALLY love my job! All 18 first graders were completely engaged in this hour long lesson that had them filming, creating, and producing a short animation video using their clay dinosaurs. Frame by frame they brought their dinosaurs to life!

All this excitement and creativity would not have been possible without a lot of people! Abigail, my art teacher had approached me at the beginning of the year about doing an animation project with our first graders. We searched for an app that we thought would be easy enough for them to use. We found one, but it was just OK. It was around winter break when I discovered the iStopMotion app that had been released by Boinx Software. It was just what we were looking for...simple, intuitive, and fun!

A special thanks to Assistant Building Engineer, Rob for making these INCREDIBLE iPad stands. Not having to worry about the iPads moving, made the project that much more enjoyable for all! I can't wait to work with the rest of the first grade classes this week!

It's the Little Things I Get Excited About

It's Sunday morning and I should be doing school work, instead I am playing with my Delicious account. Initially, I was trying to figure out how I could send my "bookmarked" links to my blog, but stumbled across the Bookmarklet for iPad/iPhone page. You see I LOVE Delicious! I have been using it for a number of years and not sure what I would do with out it. It is one of my go to sources for baking, cooking, sharing, collaborating, etc. I have the bookmarklet on my MBA, but didn't have it on my iPad, so when I discovered this page, I was as happy as a kid in a candy store! I know it may seem really simple and obvious, but it's things like this that I get excited about (I know...I am a big dork)!  Here is a screen shot of the directions...super easy!
