On the Eve of a New Decade

"Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. ~Samuel Ullman

Wondering where the last 10 years have gone...
I have mentally been counting down the days, but on the eve of my 40th, it feels a little surreal...

A few things I have learned in the past 10 years...

  • Confidence to be myself, to speak up and let my voice be heard...
  • What I am truly passionate about...
  • My love for travel and culture...
  • Family comes in many shapes, sizes, and forms...
  • Who my true friends are...
  • Sometimes you just have to let go...
  • To dream...
  • I can make my hopes and dreams turn into reality...
  • Silence is more powerful than having the last word...
  • There are two types of people...those that inspire you and those that drain you. I have learned to surround myself with those that inspire and feed my soul...
  • Surround myself with people who make me a better person...
  • I am not what I have done...I am what I have overcome...
  • I have felt fear, courage, wisdom, hope, and unconditional love...
  • My failures were the stepping stones to where I am today...
  • Thankful for those who have come into my life and to those who are no longer a part of it...I am who I am, because of all of you...
My thirties have been pretty amazing, so I imagine it can only get better from here, right?! Here's to another decade of living life to the fullest!

Perma Smile

Daniel Pink tweeted this 4 minute gem and I think it is worth adding to the blog.

As I watched...I thought what a great thing to have students do during carpool. ;)

Well, maybe not the honking part, but showing inspirational messages...OR no talking on cell phone messages. I bet some of our parents would read the signs and think twice! :)

Daniel says... "If it doesn’t make your day, I’ll give you your money back."

I say...If it doesn't give you a perma smile, then you need to go back to bed....
